#XrisLogbook 193 - Progress, Paperwork, People 🇲🇺
👍🏻 Cocoon Bay is entering another phase. This week, Paul arrived in Mauritius to help us push the project through its final stretch. He worked with us on our real estate projects in Barcelona, so having someone who already knows the way we work makes a difference. We spent the first days walking through Cocoon Bay, room by room, looking at what needs to be improved, corrected or simply finished properly. There is still work ahead, but this is the beginning of the final push. At this stage, progress is no longer measured in walls going up. It is measured in details disappearing from the snagging list.
👎🏻 Still no final news yet on Sophie and Lucy’s dependent permits. This week I discovered that the process has evolved a little: part online, part offline, with a few steps that apparently still prefer human interaction. Fair enough. The funny part is that I’m now heading back in person mainly to work out how to… pay. I’m usually quite good at finding ways to invest money, so I’m taking this as a personal challenge. Hopefully one more visit, one more stamp, one more payment… and we’ll be a little closer to the finish line.
✍🏻 The final stages of a project always remind me of something: plans matter, capital matters and execution matters, but when things become complicated, what really makes the difference is having the right people around the table. Bringing Paul back into a project years after Barcelona feels like one of those small circles closing. The closer you get to the finish line, the less glamorous the work becomes… and somehow, that’s usually when it matters most.
