#XrisLogbook 192 - Settling, Surprises, Syncing 🇲🇺

103

👍🏻 We’re slowly finding our rhythm on the island. New faces seem to appear almost every day, and I’ve been surprised by how many people have reached out since we arrived. Some promising conversations, some probably less so… learning who to listen to is part of discovering a new ecosystem. Meanwhile, Sophie and Lucy’s residence permits are still somewhere in the system. Apparently even the “easy” applications require a little island patience. 🌴

👎🏻 We’ve now experienced a couple of the less glamorous sides of island life: our first power cut and water interruption. Nothing dramatic, but suddenly the backup electricity and water systems we planned for Cocoon Bay feel considerably less theoretical. The good news: after another site visit this week, we can finally see the finish line. Now we just need to get everything connected to the grid. ⚡️

✍🏻 Europe is properly back to work, and so am I. The time difference is turning out to have an unexpected upside: quiet mornings to catch up while Europe is still sleeping. The downside? Europe’s afternoon becomes my evening. Still figuring out the balance, but I’m beginning to realise that moving 9,000 km away doesn’t necessarily mean working any further away. 🌍

🙏🏻 Special thanks this week to

🧭 One thought to take into the weekend:

Changing where you live is relatively quick.

Building a new rhythm takes a little longer.
